Description

In this talk I will present an example of neurophenomenology in the study of a specific aspect of mind, namely temporality. To this end, I will try to articulate a dialogue between Heidegger’s phenomenology and current research in neurodynamics, thus establishing a neurophenomenological case study of temporality. Among other things, it will be argued is that enactive robotics need to take into account the fact that temporality, understood as the subjective sense of time, should not be regarded as a linear information processing arising from an internal clock; but rather, conceiving the cognitive agent in constant sensori-motor operational coupling, it seems that it is from the self-organized coherence of the internal dynamic order that a specious present emerges. The consequences of this new view regarding the understanding cognition will be discussed.
